Sunday Collection: Last week’s Collection amounted to £1,347. World Meeting of Families collection amounted to £739. Lourdes Collection was £221.50. Thank you.

OFFICIAL ICON of the World Meeting of Families will be in the Derry Diocese from Monday 5th – Thursday 15th March.

Derry City: St Eugene’s Cathedral, Wednesday 7th – Monday 12th March
Omagh: Sacred Heart Church, Monday 12th – Tuesday 13th March
Bellaghy: St Mary’s Church, Tuesday 13th – Thursday 15th March.
A Petitions Box will be in the various venues while the Icon is there.

Knocknagin Primary School: You are invited to our Shared Education Bake Sale on Friday 9th March in the Nazarene Hall, 10am to 11.30am. Please come along and witness our young entrepreneurs working together with Desertmartin P.S to demonstrate all their wonderful work and support each of the groups.

St Columb’s PS, Cullion: We are having another recycling lift at the school this Monday (5th March). Bags of clothes, curtains, bedding, paired shoes, handbags etc can all be left at the school anytime up to 9am on Monday 5th March. Thank you for your continued support.

SPECIAL DIOCESAN MASS: The Annual Diocesan Mass for those with special needs, and their families and friends, will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Steelstown, Derry, on Saturday 10th March at 3.00pm. All are welcome to attend.

Desertmartin Credit Union: We have opened a Christmas Savings Club, and we would like all our members to avail of this. Also, this club is opened to new members. Just call into the office to avail of this new service.

Tirgan Community Group: Monday 5th March at 8.00pm sharp, an information evening on Inheritance Tax, Will Making, Succession Planning and Rural Support, this information is delivered by a Solicitor and an Accountant from CAFRE, Greenmount Agricultural College, This information is geared towards the Farming Community, but everyone welcome. Refreshments served.

Slieve Gallion Active Retirement Association. Meeting on Monday 5th March at 7.30 pm in St Mary’s Parish Hall. A 3-day trip to Athlone is planned from Sunday 13th -Tuesday 15th May. For further details Contact Chris on 075 4601 0560.

St Mary’s Parochial Hall, Desertmartin
Owing to continuing construction work being carried out at the hall the Tea Dance for 9th March has been cancelled.

Hall Committee A G M will take place on 25th March. This is an open meeting for anyone who wishes to attend. New Committee members welcome.

In association with People Plus N.I., the Courses are continuing in the Parish Hall.

Draperstown Celtic will be holding a 10k, 5k and walk on Sunday 22nd April at 11am to raise funds for the youth teams going to the Foyle Cup. You can sign up at http://athleticsni.org/Fixtures/Run-DC-10K

Sarsfield Accordion Band: Band practice continues every Thursday from 7.30 to 9.00 pm.

St Patrick’s Ceili Club, Desertmartin: Ceili on Saturday 3rd March will be held in Assembly Hall, St Colm’s High School, Draperstown. Dancing from 9.30pm – 12.30 am. Music Duntally Ceili Band. Note: Change of Venue.

Well done to everyone who turned out in such good numbers for our annual 5km/10km athletics meeting which took place last Sunday morning. We are very grateful to those club members who organised the event and to many others who worked on the day. The club offers its appreciation to all sponsors who continue to support this event year after year. Congratulations to the winners of the following categories: Male 10km Open – Eoin Hughes Acorns AC; Female 10km Open – Siobhan Brown Tafelta AC; Male 50+ – Eugene McAuley Acorns AC; Female 50+ – Bridie Young Acorns AC; Male 5km – Jariath Hughes and Female 5km – Paula McErlain.

The club received £1359.50 from the proceeds of the Christmas Bazaar which were divided evenly between the Parish and the GAA.
