Confirmation Congratulations to all P7 children who received the sacrament yesterday, Saturday and to the families, relations and friends. Thanks to Very Rev Brian Brady, PP VF, Ballyliffin who administered the sacrament to the children. Thank you to the teachers and the choir. Also St. Martin’s GAC and those who provided the hospitality afterwards.

Death Notices: In the event of the death of a loved one in the parish and the funeral is to take place in the parish of Ballinascreen or Desertmartin a member of the family must inform Fr Madden or Fr Downey or Fr McGirr as soon as is convenient. This allows for the family to receive the best possible support that the parish can offer at the time of a death and to enable them to make the necessary arrangements.

Desertmartin PTAA: Many People Abstain from Alcohol during Lent. Anybody who wishes to take the Temporary Pledge for the Duration of Lent, please enrol with Madonna Devlin 028 796 32769 or Kathleen Walls 028 796 31094.

Fundraiser: Next bag lift of unwanted items of clothing, shoes etc. will be collected 13th April. Any bags before that date can be left at the hall.
Bingo session: on Wednesday 24th April at 8pm.
Volunteers Required : Anyone who would like to help out at functions etc. Or application for funding would be much appreciated.

Parish Survey: Survey forms are still available in all the churches or from the Parish Office. Please complete one and return it on or before 24th March. Alternatively, it may be completed online by following the links on the parish website www.desertmartinparish.com.

Children In Crossfire Advent Appeal: It is important that any boxes for this appeal are returned this week please to the Parish Office.

Desertmartin Credit Union: We have a special Junior Membership Easter Promotion on at present, which will end on 19th April, to encourage new Junior members to join. If you are a pupil at either Cullion or Knocknagin Primary Schools and have not yet joined our Credit Union, we will give each new member a start-off payment of £10. This is a great opportunity to get saving with us through the schools.

Slieve Gallion ARA. A meeting will be held in St Mary’s Hall, Desertmartin at 8 pm on Monday 11th March.

Youth Alpha for Lent: Young people aged 16-18 years are invited to consider taking part in Youth Alpha this Lent. The Youth Alpha film series is designed to help teenagers engage in some of life’s most important questions and help them explore faith. The series will begin on Wednesday 13th March in Maghera Pastoral Centre 7 – 8.30 pm and will run for 6 Wednesdays. This course can count towards the Pope John Paul II Award and is open to all young people aged 16-18. Tirgan Community Hall: Sunday 10th March, Traditional music night. Enjoy an evening of good music and craic with a cup of tea, all musicians and singers welcome. Doors open 7.30pm.

RunDC 2019: RunDC returns on 28th April (11am) with a 10k and 5k run as well as a 5k walk. There are medals for all. All runners entered before 24th March get a commemorative race vest. The walk has a special family discount rate. All pre-registered walkers and runners will get a goody bag from Revive Active and O’Kane’s Chemist. All funds raised will go to DCFC youth teams going to The Foyle Cup. Enter online at www.draperstownceltic.co.uk.

Annual Youth Pilgrimage To Croagh Patrick takes place on Friday 5th April for young people aged between 16 and 25. The price of the trip is £30, which includes food and transport. Buses will be leaving from Derry and Strabane. The Registration Form can be found on the Diocesan website – www.derrydiocese.org. Completed Forms should be returned to the Catechetical Centre, 2 Francis Street, Derry, BT48 7DS by Friday 29th March. Trócaire: We welcome to the parishes of Desertmartin and Ballinascreen this weekend representatives from Trócaire who will promote and explain this year’s Trócaire Lenten Campaign. Trócaire boxes are now available at the back of each of the churches.

The Irish Catholic: Following the special promotion of the Irish Catholic Newspaper earlier in the year, those who wish to purchase the paper each week must give their names into the parish office or the sacristans this weekend.
As of next week only a limited number will be available to those who have placed an order.
