FRIDAY MASSES

From Friday, 31st July, when Confirmations in Ballinascreen are completed, there will be a change in Friday Mass times schedule.  The 10 am morning Mass on a Friday will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Coolcalm, and the 7.30 pm Friday evening Mass will be celebrated in Holy Rosary Church.

Both Masses will be available on webcam.

Social distancing will apply at all Masses and when all the seats are taken, others may remain in their cars and receive Holy Communion when the congregation has left the church.

VIGIL AND SUNDAY MASSES

Saturday Vigils and Sunday Masses for different areas of the parish commence this weekend, 18th and 19th July.  Masses will be held as follows:

7.30 pm Vigil Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Keenaught.

10 am Sunday Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Coolcalm (webcam).

In Ballinascreen Parish:

5 pm Vigil Mass in St. Eugene’s Church, Moneyneena.

6.15 pm Vigil Mass in Holy Rosary Church, Draperstown.

9 am Sunday Mass in St. Columba’s Church, Straw.

11 am Sunday Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Sixtowns.

12 noon Sunday Mass in Holy Rosary Church, Draperstown.

Church doors will open 30 minutes before Mass starts.

Because of the new guidelines regarding social distancing, the number of parishioners that may attend each Mass is limited.  Therefore, following a 4-Week Cycle, each Mass will be for certain areas of the parish.

Full details of this 4-Week Cycle will be displayed on all Church doors, on the parish website at www.desertmartinparish.com, and on local club and community group Facebook pages.

It is very important to note that the Sunday Obligation to attend Mass continues to be suspended.

In the church only families residing in the same household can sit together.

People are free to wear masks or face coverings at Mass if they wish.

Holy Communion will be distributed at the end of Mass as people leave.

Mass will be broadcast over the external speakers or you can watch Mass via the webcam (Coolcalm only).  Those outside the church in their cars can receive Holy Communion once Mass is finished and the congregation has left the Church.  Churches will be closed when the available seats are taken.

The safest place is still to remain at home.

VOLUNTEERS

Many thanks to those who have volunteered to assist in our Churches with implementing the many new guidelines at each Mass.  More volunteers welcome.

ST. JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS’ SOCIETY

This year, St. Joseph’s Young Priests’ Society celebrates its 125th Anniversary of the founding of the Society (in 1895).  The Society has launched a new website, www.stjosephsyoungpriestssociety.ie.  In congratulating the faithful members of S.J.Y.P., past and present, on its 125th Anniversary, the Society acknowledges the ongoing good work of the S.J.Y.P. members in parishes across the country and in our own diocese.  The work of S.J.Y.P. and the dedication of the members is very much understated, but the steady, prayerful and financial support is invaluable to us.  The National president, Mr. John Murphy, says that in the last ten years, through the generosity of members and benefactors, the Society has assisted, both prayerfully and financially, 1,449 ordinations to priesthood.  These include support for our own seminarians, of course, for which we are very grateful.

MATT TALBOT PRAYER SOCIETY – Praying for those suffering from Addiction

On the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Eugene’s Cathedral launched the Matt Talbot Prayer Society.  This Prayer Society has been created to pray for people who are suffering from any form of addiction, to pray for those recovering from addiction, and to pray for all those affected by addiction, especially family members.  As we know addiction takes many forms from alcohol, drugs, gambling, pornography, to other less acknowledged addictions.

To join the Matt Talbot Prayer Society, you are invited to enrol the name of the person to be prayed for and the addiction from which we are praying that they will be freed.  Those enrolled will be prayed for specifically every day by members of the Matt Talbot Prayer Society.  Mass will be offered for those enrolled on the first Monday of every month in St. Eugene’s Cathedral, Derry, at 7.30 pm.  You will also receive an enrolment card to enable you to join in the prayer.  To enrol someone in the Matt Talbot Prayer Society, please phone St. Eugene’s Cathedral on 028 7126 2894 or email steugenes@btconnect.com or private message St. Eugene’s Cathedral Facebook page.
