CONGRATULATIONS TO FR. JOHN

Many congratulations to Fr. John O’Laverty who was ordained a priest for service in the Down and Connor Diocese on 31st July.  Fr. John will offer Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Sixtowns on Monday 15th August at 7.30 pm and afterwards he will give his First Blessing to all who attend.

Fr. O’Lavery’s mother is the former Elizabeth Campbell from Sixtowns, daughter of the late Henry and Mary Ellen Campbell.  We wish him every blessing in his priestly ministry.  Ad Multos Annos.

KNOCKNAGIN HALL COMMITTEE

Chair Exercise with Thomasina will resume on Tuesday 16th August at 10 am.  Admission £4.  Everyone welcome.

Knit and Natter:  The Knit and Natter classes will resume again in September.

Line Dancing with Thomasina will resume again in the first week of September.

Cancer Focus NI would like to thank all those who attended the health checks that was carried out while visiting Desertmartin on 27th July and the generous donation of £150.00.

SARSFIELD’S BAND

The AOH will celebrate the Feast of the Assumption in Belfast on Sunday 14th August.  The band will leave the Hall at 9.30 am to parade to Coolcalm Church for 10am Mass and afterwards parade Desertmartin and Magherafelt before joining the main parade in Belfast.

All band members are requested to attend Band practice in preparation.

Anyone wishing to travel on the bus please inform any Band or Div. member ASAP.

Sarsfield’s Band & Div. 30 offers its sincere sympathy and condolences to the McGurk and Walls families on the death of Pasty McGurk, Dunamore.

We are delighted to wish band member Niall O’Hagan and his bride Ciara a long and happy life together after their recent marriage.

DERRY DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK SHRINE

Derry Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine on Saturday 24th September led by Bishop Donal McKeown.  Stations of the Cross at 2 pm followed by Mass at 3 pm with Sacrament of the Sick.  Buses will travel from a variety of pick-up points.  For further information, please contact Fr. WORLD YOUTH DAY PILGRIMAGE – LISBON 2023
The Diocese of Derry is inviting any young person who is over 18 or will be 18 by July 2023 to join us on Pilgrimage to Lisbon for World Youth Day.  World Youth Day (WYD) is the gathering of young people from all over the world with the Pope.  It is also a pilgrimage, a celebration of youth, an expression of the universal Church and an intense moment of evangelization for the youth world.  This pilgrimage will take place in August 2023.  For now, we are taking expression of interest until we have more information on dates, times and prices.  We have limited space so signing up is essential.  You can register your interest on the derrydiocese.org website or on the @derryyouth Facebook page.  If you have any questions regarding this pilgrimage, please email Lizzie Rea, Youth Coordinator at: lizzie.rea@derrydiocese.org

 

HIGHER DIPLOMA/DIPLOMA IN PASTORAL LITURGY

THE DERRY DIOCESAN CATECHETICAL CENTRE
