Desertmartin Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council is a faith-filled leadership group through which priests and people work together as co-responsible partners in furthering the mission of Christ in their own parish, through building up a vibrant Christian community, rooted in baptism and marked by its faith, worship and service.

In accordance with the Code of Canon Law (Canon 536), the council shall have a consultative voice. The Parish Priest is pastor of the parish. In the Parish Pastoral Council, Christ’s faithful, together with those who by virtue of their office are engaged in pastoral care in the parish, give their help in fostering pastoral action. Through prayerful reflection and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the pastoral council will maintain an overview of the spiritual needs of the parish, plan strategically, and help to identify, implement and evaluate those pastoral initiatives and policies best suited to spreading and deepening the living of the Gospel in this local parish community.

Parish Prayer

O Jesus, help us as the parish of
Desertmartin to make you the centre of our lives.

Through the power of your Holy Spirit,
help us to repent of the wrongs we have done,
that we may be refreshed in spirit and renewed in hope.

Through that same Spirit, help us to be good to one another
and to be faithful to you, as we live out our vocations:
married, single, priest, religious –
so that our homes and our parish may be filled with your
presence and be powerful sources of your peace.

Amen.
