 THE 40 HOURS DEVOTIONS

Thank You to Everyone who looked after the church, arranged flowers, provided music, visited the church and tuned in via webcam during the course of last Sunday and Monday as part of the parish’s 40 Hours Devotions.  We appreciate you sharing your time and faith with us over these two days.  May the Lord bless you.

ORDINATION ANNNIVERSARY

Fr. Madden will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood next weekend.  Fr. Madden was ordained on 3rd July 1983 by Bishop Edward Daly.  He will mark this special occasion with a Mass of Thanksgiving in Holy Rosary Church on Saturday 1st July at 6 pm.  Following this Mass of Thanksgiving light refreshments will be served in St Colm’s G.A.C.  All welcome.  On Sunday 2nd July Fr. Madden will also celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at 10 am in St. Mary’s Church, Coolcalm.

 

KNOCKNAGIN HALL ACTIVITIES

Knit and Natter has now stopped for the summer months.

Chair Exercise with Thomasina on Tuesdays at 10 am followed by a short walk.  Admission £4.  Everyone welcome.

Line Dancing continues on Wednesdays at 7.30 pm.  Admission £4.

Sarsfield’s Band and Div. 30 offers its sincere sympathy and condolences to the Crossan family on the death of Jimbo Crossan, Derry, President of the AOH – Board of Erin and Derry No. 1 Div.

Band Practice continues on Thursdays at 7.30 pm.  New and past members welcome to come along, roles for all ages and abilities, accordion players, drummers, flag bearers and majorettes.

 

BALLINASCREEN PARISH SUMMER DRAW

Ballinascreen Five-Week Summer Parish Draw, with a total prize fund of £8,000, will be held again this year from Saturday 15th July to Saturday 12th August.

Week 1:  First Prize £1,000, Second Prize £200, Third Prize £100.

Week 2:  First Prize £1,000, Second Prize £200, Third Prize £100.

Week 3:  First Prize £1,000, Second Prize £200, Third Prize £100.

Week 4:  First Prize £1,000, Second Prize £200, Third Prize £100.

Week 5:  First Prize £2,000, Second Prize £500, Third Prize £300.

You have the chance of winning up to £1,000 each week and even up to £2,000 in the last week!!!

Winners will be announced every Saturday at the 6 pm Mass in Holy Rosary Church.

HEALTH AND WELLBEING EVENT

S.T.E.P.S. and Workspace are running this event on Wednesday 28th June, 10 am – 1 pm in Community Hub, 50 High Street, Draperstown (beside the library).  Pop in for a chat with up to 20 charities and organisations, learn what help, advice and support is available in the local area and how they can help you.  O’Kane’s Pharmacy will also be providing free drop in health checks.  Admission is free and everyone is very welcome.

 

SIXTOWNS DANCE

Monthly Dance in Sixtowns Cross Community Centre on Friday 30th June at 9.30 pm.  Music by Glenshane Country.  All welcome.

 

COMMUNITY GARDEN

S.T.E.P.S. and Workspace invite anyone with an interest in helping to develop a community garden to come on Saturday 1st July from 10 am to the Polytunnel, behind the Soup Kitchen (beside Backrow Hall).  People with practical experience of building raised beds and the tools to make it happen are needed.  For more details, ring 078 2111 9367.

 

ALL-IRELAND RALLY FOR LIFE 2023

MESSAGE FROM DANNY McSTRAVOCK

As many of you know, over the last number of years I have been organising a charity cycle every year to raise money for local charities.  This year I had planned to tick one off my bucket list as my club had planned on doing Mizen to Malin at end of July.  Unfortunately, due to a combination of things, this has been postponed until 2024.  I didn’t want the year to go by without doing something.  So, for the month of July 2023 I am planning on Cycling at least 1,000 miles to raise money for F.A.C.T.S. (Families With Autism Coming Together For Support).  They are a local charity who provide information and advice, signpost relevant agencies and organise training conferences, family days out and other events throughout the year.  Most importantly they provide a listening ear and provide parents with someone to talk to who has walked their path.  My grandson, Daniel, was diagnosed with Autism in October 2021 and the charity have provided a lot of support for the family since then.  If you would like to donate, you can with cash donations to me or any of my family or though my just giving page link below:

TIRGAN COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION TRACTOR RUN

Tractor Fun Day on Saturday 1st July.  Starts at 12 noon.  Kids mini tractor/bike run £5 per child.  Vintage tractors assemble from 12 noon.  Vintage Run at 5 pm followed by the modern tractors, finishing with a disco.  £20 per tractor, includes burger and entry to disco.

 

KILCRONAGHAN ACTIVITY CENTRE

Kilcronaghan Painting Class invites you to its Creamed Tea Fundraiser and Art Exhibition in aid of Steps on Saturday 1st July, 12 noon – 4 pm.  Guests will be treated to T/C, creamed scone and traybakes for only £5.  Homemade cake stall on day.  Message 078 2196 3749 for more information.

WORKSPACE RECREATION CENTRE

Nuala’s Keep Fit Circuit Classes are still running, spaces available cost £3.50 per class.  Classes on Mondays at 7.15 pm and Thursdays at 6.45 pm.

Beginner Exercise Classes on Tuesdays from 8 pm. Cost £3.50.  A great class for those starting or not sure where to start.

Birthday parties are half price at weekends, now only £15 per hour.

WORLD YOUTH DAY – LISBON 2023

QUB HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE

The Catholic Chaplaincy at Queen’s University Belfast will lead a Pilgrimage to the Holy Land for alumni and friends.  Departing 9th February 2024 for 8 nights with half-board accommodation in 4 star hotels in Jerusalem and Nazareth, this promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime trip.  The Pilgrimage’s Spiritual Director will be Queen’s Chaplain, Fr.
