-Funding Opportunities for the Community and Voluntary Sector-
Mid Ulster Council’s Sports Development Grant Incorporating Sport Northern Ireland’s Everybody Active 2020 Small Grants Programme. This grant supports recognised Sport NI sports clubs (affiliated to their governing body of sport) to develop activities that seek to promote specific sporting interests/activity to the wider community. This may include, but is not limited to; coaching, come try it sessions, activities which seek to increase participation and development of the sport. The programme also seeks to actively promote sports and physical activity to the following target groups: Women & Girls, People with Disabilities and People in Areas of Social Need, visit: www.ninis2.nisra.gov.uk and type in your postcode to find statistics on your area. The grant threshold will be up to a maximum of £1,500. Those groups who received a Sports Development grant earlier this year are eligible to re-apply for a pro-rata award of up to £900. Halifax Foundation The average grant is currently between £3,000 – £4,000. The overall aim of the Halifax Foundation is: “To support charitable organisations within Northern Ireland to enable people, who are disadvantaged or with special needs, to participate actively in their communities. The Foundation has two main target areas to which it seeks to allocate funds, social and community needs and education and training. Please remember the old round £1 coin is being taken out of circulation on 15th October. Everyone should check their pockets, purses, piggy banks etc to ensure you have taken these coins to the bank.

Tirgan Community Hall: Exercise class continues each Monday night at 8.00pm, Money for shopping trip will be collected on Wednesday 11th October in Tirgan Hall at 8.30 pm. There are still some tickets available for the play ‘ A Farmer Wants A Wife’ for Thursday 19th October, Children’s Halloween Disco on Monday 30th October, all children welcome , prize for best costume.

The Holy Family: Padre Pio prayer group will hold their monthly meeting on Monday 9th October in the Holy Family Church, Ballymagroarty, Derry, starting with Mass at 7.15pm. There will be a 1st class relic at the meeting, and everyone is welcome.

Sarsfield’s Accordion Band: Band Practice continues every Thursday night in St Mary’s Hall from 7.30pm. AOH Day at Knock will take place on Saturday 14th October.

The old pound coins are being taken out of circulation on 15th October therefore after Monday 9th the club cannot accept them.

Club members who attended the Gaelteacht this year should contact the club cultural officer Shea Shiels Tel: 07796135759 to receive their attendance allowance from the club.

A meeting of the executive committee will take place on Monday 9th @ 8:30pm.  

The club are participating in the G.A.A National Club draw.  Central Council provide the prizes while the club retains the proceeds of all tickets sold.  The prizes are impressive ranging from a new car to a travel voucher worth £2,000;  All Ireland weekend packages and lucrative shopping vouchers.  Club members will be calling at homes within the parish over the coming weeks.  We ask everyone to give this fundraiser your full support. Tickets £10 each.
