Future Dates for the diary!
Tuesday 21st August: County Derry Deanery Family Event to be held in Dean McGlinchy Park in the evening to celebrate the opening of the World meeting of Families on Wednesday 22nd August, culminating in the visit to Ireland of the Holiness Pope Francis. More details to follow.

Sunday 23rd September: To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the death of St Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio) and the centenary of his having received on his body the stigmata (the wounds of Jesus on the cross) Bishop Donal McKeown, Bishop of Derry will be the chief celebrant at Mass in Holy Rosary Church at 3 pm.

Tirgan Hall: Tonight, Saturday 30th June, the fabulous Gregory Donaghy (‘Good Trouble’), in Tirgan Community Hall. Doors open 9 pm. Dancing until 1 am.

Padre Pio Mass: The monthly Mass in honour of St Pio of Pietrelcina will be celebrated on Monday 2nd July at 7.30 pm in Holy Rosary Church, Draperstown. Rosary and novena prayers at 7.10 pm. Annual subscriptions for the Voice of Padre Pio magazine are due and can be paid at the July Mass – £13 in a sealed envelope with name and address.

Slieve Gallion Active Retirement Association. Carol McKee from Age Well Project will give a talk on Services available to older people in the Mid-Ulster Area on Monday 2nd July at 7.30 pm in St Mary’s Hall, Desertmartin. Non-members and members welcome. The monthly meeting of members will follow.

Danny McStravock’s Sponsored Cycle: I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the donations, messages of support and prayers for my sponsored cycle last Sunday. It was a fantastic day and I managed to cover 201.3 miles in just under 13 hours. The real winner though is the NI Children’s Hospice. My intention is to leave my JustGivingPage open and I ’m still accepting donations for another few weeks. Once again thank you all for your support.

St Mary’s Parochial Hall, Desertmartin Grand Re-opening
on Saturday 7th July from 12 noon to 3 pm
The Knocknagin Hall Committee would like to announce the re-opening of the refurbished facilities at 53 Knocknagin Road, Desertmartin.
There will be something there for everyone, including a variety of information stalls outlining the programmes and services we aim to provide;
Registration for future activities;
Face Painting, Bouncy Castle and Light Refreshments.
Everyone is invited to come along on Saturday 7th July to look around.
Please feel free to call in to absorb the atmosphere,
and join us for a cup of tea and a chat.

Sarsfield Accordion Band: Thanks to all who supported us and took part in the Quiz held last Friday night. Band practice continues every Thursday from 7.30 pm to 9 pm.

Thanks to everyone who organised the U12 Girls Blitz held in Longfield last Saturday and congratulations to O’Donovan Rossa, Magherafelt, winners of the Cup competition and to John Mitchel’s, Claudy, winners of the Shield. Player of the Tournament went to Leanne McCullagh from St Colm’s, Ballinascreen.
